The 1841 census shows that Antony had already left home and was working on Compton Farm as a labourer. By 1851 Antony had married Charlotte and started a family. He was working as an agricultural labourer and living in Emmett Hill. The family had grown by 1861. They were still living at Emmett Hill and Antony was an agricultural labourer. His son, Maurice was listed as an agricultural labourer, though only 13. By the time of the 1871 census Antony and Charlotte had just two children living with them at their home in Emmett Hill. Antony was still working as an agricultural labourer. The 1881 census shows that Maurice had returned to live at home, still unmarried. Mary was living at home still and there appears to be a reason. On the census it shows that she has a 'deformed ......'. This would show why she stayed at home and did not marry. Antony was still working as an agricultural labourer. When the 1891 census was taken, for the first time, Antony put his place of birth as Emmett Hill. This means that Antony spent his whole life in this hamlet and maybe in the same house, with brief excursions when he was young. Lavinia and Maurice were living with him and his wife. Both Antony and his son, Maurice, were listed as working on a farm. Sadly this was the last census Antony was included in as he died the following year in 1892.

Notes for STANLEY GEORGE HAYLES:
Joined the army at 15 for the first time to go to war as an under age soldier. Stanley pretended to be his brother Josephs twin. Served throughout the First World War, seeing his brother Joseph die in the battle of Gaza and getting injured himself. Stanley was awarded two medals during the First World War. Namely the British War and Victory medals.
Joined the army again 2 years later and served a further 23 years taking part in World War 2.
Stanley enjoyed being in India more than anywhere. He loved the climate but thought the locals were silly. When cholera was rampant he said that the locals still put the dead in the same river that they drank from.
